Roseland

Last week Tom was at Royal Family Kids Camp...that means we were down an intern for the week before all the mission trips left. So...it was busy. I was working crazy hours and was pretty darn busy. My parents were also at Royal Family so that led to me feeling less hugged. haha. Anyways...I have pictures on my phone like this:

So that I know how to have the copier set when I am creating booklets. After formatting, printing, copying, folding, cutting, stabling, binding, etc I will never take a booklet for granted again.

Another one of my responsibilities this past week was to shop for food for the trip that I was going on to the South Side of Chicago (Roseland). Myself and 2 other girls spent $700 in 3 hours. Thankfully we made a pretty great team.

That night I met with Susy (my life coach and mentor) finished writing a paper, and packed to leave the next day.

I am not sure if I wrote about this or not but one of the tasks I was first assigned at my internship was to design a mural for the side of a thrift store. I have never learned how to do this in any of my classes so I just did my best. The board ended up loving it and it was approved. Then it was my task to implement how it would be accomplished. It was pretty funny how the Lord reminded me that I was not in control during the whole process. My original plan was to have team members come to the church and create stencils of each image and bring them downtown with us. That worked...until it was crazy windy. Thankfully there were people who were such skilled artist that they could sketch the images with chalk and other people could paint them in. *keep in mind that the trip to get the chalk and more paint was really epic* (2 white college girls running errands in the hood). The chalk was also the last box in the store.

I was handed keys to the thrift store with the responsibility to run point at that site on Monday and Tuesday. Kinda a lot of responsibility. Monday night I woke up having terrible dreams about the mural and feeling like I was going to throw up....then I did. 7 times. It was awful. Thankfully Kelsey went above and beyond staying up with me and getting me everything I needed. Kelsey, Tom, Sterling and others really took care of me. I ended up going home Tuesday morning when Sterling was planning on going home to head to Mexico for a different trip. We think that it was heat exhaustion which makes a ton of sense. I am doing much better today. So again, God said "Ha..Paige..I've got this...not you." I was unable to be there for the last day working/finishing the mural. So that was funny/sad/I am always learning.

This song was on my heart a lot while I was sick.

This was a crazy long update...and I still feel like there is more to say. But thats all for now!
